New Bus Services Announced by LTA/PTOs

Topic started by BusAnalayzer on 11 Oct `14, 8:12PM:

I am creating a new thread for the new bus services launched by LTA/PTOs including bus route extensions.

Considering we end up opening a new thread everytime a new bus service is announced, it could make sense to have all those discussions in one thread.

We can start discussion here of the 5 new services LTA is launching by end of this year. I have done some research on the areas marked out for these services that I will post here. This can give us an estimate of where these services will ply.

To start with the 5 areas mentioned are:

Loyang

Kallang

West Cost

Jurong East

Bukit Batok

Make Money Online Courses Here

Topic started by flovin on 17 Sep `14, 2:18AM:

It seems that nowadays, there is a proliferation of such courses here, judging from newspaper advertisements every week.

Just to name a few, courses conducted by Jaz Lai, Fabian Lim, Ivan Ong, Andrew Tan (Qoo10) and Terrance Tan.

I have attended a few of thier sales talk. Is it that simple and easy to make money online as what they claim?

And these courses are not cheap. At least 2k. If they manage to enrol 50 per talk, they could easily make $100,000 not forgetting they could make even more when they upsell more products at the end of  the training class which I believe there is.

Has anyone attended and would like to share their experiences here?

It is always good to hear from both sides.

Lurkers, register with SgForums and ask ur H2 Chem qns here!

Topic started by UltimaOnline on 26 Jul `15, 7:25AM:

From the number of views H2 Chemistry threads on this forum has garnered, it's pretty clear that hundreds of lurkers (presumably and hopefully the majority of whom are actual JC students) are interested in H2 Chemistry posts.

Well, to all you lurkers out there (especially if you're a JC student), here's a suggestion : Why don't *you* go ahead and post your own H2 Chemistry queries here.

Just register an account with SgForums, and feel free (it's literally free... of course, asking for free online help here... or for that matter anywhere... isn't as effective as actually joining my tuition, but it's still better than having no one reliable to ask for help... or if you disagree with your own private tutor or school teacher and wish to have a 2nd opinion that's reliable and trustworthy) to ask anything relevant to H2 Chemistry here.

For instance, if you wish to discuss a TYS qn or a JC Prelim qn (eg. if you don't understand or disagree with the answer given by the TYS author, or the prelim paper's mark scheme, or your school teacher's explanation. etc), you can just specify the question (eg. "2014 RJC P3 Q2" or "TYS 2014 P3 Q2" etc) and ask your question. If it's a non-TYS qn or non-Prelim qn that involves a diagram, you'll have to use your handphone to take a photo, and upload the image to your Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc, and link to the image in your post.

Terms & Conditions : Only genuine and reasonable questions from genuine and reasonable students asked in a genuinely and reasonably respectful manner will be replied to.

New members of SgForums won't be able to make new threads until you've reached a certain post count, so go ahead and post your H2 Chem qns in this thread till then.

What information are we lacking such that we cannot deduce its a 2nd order rxn?

Is it information of rate? What else?

Before you can be 100% sure, you'll need experimental data (such as the table given for OH radicals) for CH4 as well.

I am thinking of going for a forex course to understand in depth about the pairs, indicators and all the other stuff, before I enter the market again.

Anyone has any recommendations?

Survey on autism and social media behaviour in Singapore

Topic started by autper15 on 21 Nov `15, 12:33PM:

Hi all,

I'm Wing, a JCU psychology student looking for Singaporean participants (18 years and above) for my online survey on autism perception in relation to social media behaviour in Singapore.

The purpose of my study is to understand whether the use of social media affects or shapes one's attitude towards autism. I believe this is important as to date, there has been little research on this area despite an increasing rise in autism diagnosis. Hence with data collected, it can show us the general trends of local perception towards autism and whether that is influenced by social media behaviour that can potentially spark future research.

The reason why I'm reaching out to you on this forum is to gather participants with varying interests and backgrounds so that my study can be a better representative of the Singaporean population rather than just focusing on student population.

The link is: https://jcus.asia.qualtrics.com/SE/?...3RCTci5uZ20zT7

It would be great if you can fill up the survey if interested! Likewise, if you know anyone who would be interested in, please let them know about this survey. If you would like to know more about the study, feel free to PM me and I'll reply to your queries.

Thank you very much!

Bus Terminal, Interchanges & Depots

Topic started by BusAnalayzer on 06 Sep `15, 10:55PM:

I usually see threads popping up on interchanges/depots and then die a natural death. If you want to tread back, becomes very difficult to find information. Hence, I thought it would be good to consolidate the information under one thread that can continue, and no need to have new threads every time (like Bulim thread opened almost three times).

reject a girl because she is ugly and fat

Topic started by sgmonster on 29 Jun `14, 2:17AM:

Got anyone here reject at least one girl before just because she's ugly or fat?

Last reply by Fleeting on 21 Nov `15, 5:12PM:

Greetings ! Not sure if I may double post this as my previous reply was not displayed.

If a guy rejects a girl who is fat or ugly , he is deemed to be heartless and shallow , women will demand that we MEN accept their flaws and that it would be morally obligated to do so . However , when a fat or ugly guy is rejected by the girl , guess what ? It's the guy's fault for being a delusional lazy slob and therefore the girl has all the rights to reject him and to DEMAND a better suitor . You see where I'm going with this ? Most of society accepts this kinds of double standards but you don't have to . So do not feel bad for rejecting a girl whom you are not physically attracted to for they will not even hesitate to shrug you off when the same is done to them . I must emphasis that inner beauty is truly what's most impt but , these days , finding a group of unicorns and flying pigs having a tea party with the three little pigs is easier then finding a genuinely decent girl that is right for you ! Hope I helped .

Driverless taxis going to roll out in Japan 5 years later

Japan is rolling out driverless cars 5 years later : http://asia.nikkei.com/Tech-Science/Tech/Japan-to-conduct-road-tests-with-eye-on-2020-Olympics.

Many of the countries that are charging very high taxi fares (like USA and Japan) are researching into driverless taxis.

Even in Singapore where taxi fares are 1/4 of the rates in Japan, there are researchers collborating with MIT people .

So would we be eliminated in 5-10 years time by robots and 50,000 pure Singaporeans jobs (which is like half-a million workers factories after considering 1:9 local foreigner ratio) be wiped out?

This is the same argument of 143M/143/79. 143M can have some buses with very high loading, but then 143 at the back will be empty. 258 loading in this sector cannot be measured in isolation.

For 258 to be of use, the loading needs to be good between Joon Koon and Pioneer, and Pioneer and st 81. Otherwise it is a failed service. Actually, 258 could have just looped around Soon Lee / Kim Tian estate. Did not need to go to Joo Koon as you pointed out the loading in that sector is pretty low.

Went out to try bus service 258 to Joo Koon Bus Interchange. Around ten people board at Street 81 and that's about it. Almost everyone alighted at Pioneer MRT Station bus stop.

Between Pioneer MRT Station and Joo Koon Bus Interchange, there is absolutely no boarding or alighting.

At Joo Koon Bus Interchange, a few people alighted, but I can tell you, they are only there to see the bus interchange.

Board another bus 258. Same scenario. No boarding or alighting, until Street 81.

Really, I do not think many people know that there is this bus service 258. If there is strong awareness, the loading between Joo Koon Bus Interchange and street 81 would be stronger.

There are a lot of people taking bus 182 at Upper Jurong Road. These people will take 258.

There would have been a lot of people taking 258 from street 81 to Pioneer MRT Station, but after they know the frequency, I think they don't want already.

what it takes to be in S'pore's Police Tactical Unit

An inside look at what it takes to be an officer in S'pore's Police Tactical Unit

Have you ever wondered what it takes to be an officer in the Singapore Police Force's Police Tactical Unit (PTU)? The PTU is a strategic force entrusted to maintain public order and public security in the event of civil disturbance and acts of terrorism.

A PTU officer spends over 800 hours a year in training, and all troopers undergo a two-month basic course followed by another three months of advanced training to acquire specialist-level skills before being certified as full-fledged PTU officers.

They also undergo frequent maintenance training to upkeep their operational readiness. Being a PTU officer is not just about physique. Mental development is equally important so that they remain resilient and composed in the face of danger.

A PTU officer has to operate with his gear and equipment that can weigh up to 20kg. Therefore, being physically fit is very important to them and basic training helps build strength, stamina and agility.

They utilise crossfit training and cardiovascular fitness to improve and maintain their physical condition. The fire confidence course is one of many confidence-building components designed to help officers conquer fear and stay composed when confronted by an adversary, be it human or nature.

PTU officers are also taught the specialised technique of rappelling down from a building headfirst. The Singapore Police Force recently shared this all this information and photos on its Facebook page to educate the public on what it takes to be a PTU officer.
